For four years we had the privilege of living in the foothills of the Black Forest in Germany. This forest was my life support. It was my safe place. It was where I would take myself to shake myself free from sadness or anxiety. It was where I would take myself to breathe. It was was where I processed my life and my place in the world. It was where I felt free and where I could find joy. The painting also conveys my real concern for deforestation around the world. Trees - our lifeblood in so many ways.
