Storm Over Bergamo

Last summer we spent a few days in Bergamo - one of my absolute favourite cities in Italy.  The one afternoon a huge storm blew in.  The colours were intense and the mood was very dramatic.  I painted this from my bedroom, looking out the window over the rooftops. People were running. Some were laughing. A shopkeeper was struggling to keep his shop from flooding while above them, the sky was putting on a show.  I had brought a wooden gesso panel with me that already had an orange ground on it and I love how that is coming through under the dark blue clouds.
