This painting captures the moment when I came across Isabella and the Pot of Basel in Boston Fine Art Museum for the first time. I like the idea of a painting within a painting. Or a painting about a painting. I like how the bright sunlight and warm tones of the floor contrast with the rather dark, moody subject matter of Isabella and her pot....which houses the head of her dead lover!
